The problem: the compliance trap
Bookkeepers and BAS agents carry the compliance load of Australian small business (BAS, GST, STP, payroll tax, Award changes, TPAR, and of course: reconciliations). High-volume work, with fees capped by what clients will tolerate. Everyone in the profession knows advisory is where the fees and the future are. But real advisory takes real analysis, per client, every month, and those hours don't exist in a practice already at capacity. So the advice doesn't happen, or it happens ad hoc and unbilled. The clients whose books you know best never get your best thinking.
The founder
Axel Tracy spent over ten years in accounting, a former qualified accountant and BAS agent who ran his own practice, Tracy & Associates Accounting. He knows the trap from the inside: lodgement deadlines eating the week, clients who needed advice but there were no hours left to generate and deliver it, and a fee ceiling on the work that filled the diary. Genvice isn't a tech company's guess at what bookkeepers need. It's the tool one practitioner built to escape his own trap.
Why Genvice exists
Genvice hands the hours back. It connects to Xero and QuickBooks, runs deterministic analysis across each client file (every figure shows its workings) and drafts an advisory-ready report you review, adjust, and deliver under your own name. Work that took hours per client takes minutes. Which means the fee conversation changes: from what compliance costs, to what advice is worth. That's not a marginal gain. It's a different practice.
Built responsibly, by architecture
The platform is designed to sit inside a registered agent's professional obligations, not around them, consistent with the TPB's guidance on artificial intelligence and the Code of Professional Conduct. All calculations run in deterministic, non-AI code first; the language model only narrates numbers already computed and traceable. Data is de-identified before any model call. Client data is stored and processed in Australia. And every output is only a draft; your professional judgement is the final step, not an optional one.
